Privacy Policy
Last updated 30 October 2026
This policy explains what information Find and Watch (“we”, “us”) collects when you use our iPhone app, why we collect it, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and the choices you have. We have tried to keep it plain. If anything is unclear, email us at johnfawai@gmail.com.
The short version. We collect what we need to suggest things to watch. We don’t show ads, we don’t sell your data, and we don’t track you across other apps or websites. You can export or delete everything from inside the app.
Who we are
Find and Watch is operated by Find and Watch AI. You can reach us at johnfawai@gmail.com. We are the controller of the personal information described in this policy. That email address also reaches the person responsible for privacy at Find and Watch.
Who can use the app
Find and Watch is for people aged 16 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone younger. If you believe a child has created an account, tell us and we will delete it.
We ask for your age range so we can look after younger users. We do not have official age ratings for every title. So for people aged 16 to 18, and for groups that include someone aged 16 to 18, we leave out the kinds of picks most likely to be unsuitable for them and show a reminder to check the content rating before watching.
What we collect
Information you give us
- Account details. You sign in with Apple or Google. We receive the name and email address they share with us. If you use Apple’s “Hide My Email”, we only receive Apple’s relay address.
- Profile and preferences. Your name, age range, country and streaming services, which we need to set up your account and give you picks. You can also tell us your favourite genres, language and era, and whether you like musicals or animation. We only use these to tune your picks.
- How you heard about us. During setup we ask where you heard about Find and Watch, so we know which of our channels are working. It is a single answer you choose from a list.
- Ratings and lists. What you have loved, liked, disliked or marked as watched, what you want to watch, what you have skipped or hidden, and the lists you save to. If you share lists with a group, the people you share with can see them.
- Group details. If you join or start a group, the other members can see your name and the lists you share. Picks for the group are worked out from everyone’s tastes, but the app does not show your individual preferences or ratings to the others. We keep the invite code you used to join. You can leave a group at any time.
- Reports and messages. If you tell us a watch link did not work, or you email us, we keep what you send so we can fix it.
Information collected automatically
- What we have suggested. A history of the picks we have shown you, so we do not keep suggesting the same titles.
- Usage information. Which screens you use and which features you tap, collected through Aptabase (see below). It does not store your IP address or a device identifier, and it cannot be used to identify you. It uses your connection to work out roughly which country you are in, and a temporary daily code to count visits, which is deleted within 48 hours.
- Device and notification details. If you allow notifications, a push token, a device identifier and your account ID. Our notification provider also receives basic device details such as the device model, system version, language and time zone, so we can send a reminder at a sensible time. You can turn notifications off in your iPhone settings.
- Purchase status. Whether you have an active subscription and which plan. Apple handles your payment. We never see your card details.
- Error information. Basic details when something goes wrong, so we can fix it. We do not send what you typed.
What we do not collect
We do not collect your precise location, contacts, photos, microphone, or advertising identifier. We do not track you across other companies’ apps and websites.
How we use your information, and why we are allowed to
This table links each use to the legal reason for it. It applies where UK or EU data protection law covers you.
| What we do | Information used | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|
| Create your account and keep you signed in | Account details | Contract (providing the service you asked for) |
| Suggest films and series that match your taste, your vibe tonight, your services and your country | Profile, preferences, ratings and lists, what we have already suggested | Contract |
| Run groups and shared lists | Group details, names, shared lists | Contract |
| Manage your subscription | Account ID and purchase status | Contract |
| Send notifications you have allowed | Push token, account ID, device details | Consent, which you can withdraw in your iPhone settings |
| Understand which features work and fix problems | Anonymous usage and error information, reports and messages | Legitimate interests in running and improving the app |
| Learn which channels bring people to the app | How you heard about us | Legitimate interests in growing the app |
| Keep the service secure and meet legal duties | Account details and purchase status | Legitimate interests and legal obligation |
How picks are made
Your picks are chosen with the help of an AI service. It suggests titles from a list of what is available on your streaming services. It does not make decisions about you that have a legal or similarly significant effect. The worst outcome is a pick you do not like, and you can tell us so.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of service providers to run the app. They may only use your information to provide their service to us.
| Provider | What they do | What they receive |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Database and sign in | Your account, profile, ratings and lists |
| Render | Hosts our server | Requests the app makes to our server |
| OpenAI | Helps write your picks and the reasons for them | Titles you have rated, tonight’s vibe, whether you are watching alone or in a group and how many people, and a list of titles to choose from. Not your name, email or account ID |
| RevenueCat | Manages subscriptions | Your account ID and purchase status |
| Apple and Google | Sign in and, for Apple, payments | As described in their own policies |
| OneSignal | Sends push notifications | Push token, account ID and basic device details |
| Aptabase | Anonymous usage statistics, hosted in the EU | Events such as which screen was opened, with no identifiers |
Film and series information comes from Streaming Availability API by Movie of the Night. We do not send them anything about you.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising. We may disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of our users and the service.
Where your information is stored
Our providers store and process information in the United States and other countries, including the EU for Aptabase. This means your information may be held outside the UK, the EU and Canada, where courts and authorities may be able to access it under local law. Where information is transferred out of the UK or EU, we rely on the protections our providers offer, such as standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
| Information | How long |
|---|---|
| Account, profile and preferences | Until you delete your account |
| Ratings, lists, group memberships and what we have suggested | Until you delete your account. Shared lists you were part of are deleted too |
| Reports about watch links and emails you send us | As long as we need to deal with them. If linked to your account, they go when you delete it |
| Purchase records | As long as the law requires. Apple and RevenueCat may keep these themselves |
| Anonymous usage statistics | Kept by Aptabase for up to 5 years. These are not linked to you, so they are not removed when you delete your account |
| Backups | Overwritten on a regular cycle after deletion |
Your choices and rights
- Export. You can download a copy of what you have told us from the Profile tab.
- Delete. You can delete your account from the Profile tab. If you pay for a group, deleting your account ends the group and returns members to their own settings. Deleting your account does not cancel an Apple subscription, so cancel that in your App Store settings too.
- Correct. You can change your preferences and details in the app.
- Notifications. You can turn them off in your iPhone settings at any time.
- Other rights. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to object to or restrict our use of your information, to receive it in a portable form, to withdraw consent, and to complain to your data protection authority. In the UK that is the Information Commissioner’s Office. In Canada it is the Office of the Privacy Commissioner. California residents have rights to know, delete and correct, and to not be treated differently for using them.
To use any of these rights and you cannot do it in the app, email johnfawai@gmail.com. We will reply within a month.
If you live in California
In the last 12 months we have collected these categories of personal information, from you and from your device: identifiers (name, email, account ID), commercial information (your subscription status), preferences and inferences about what you like to watch, and internet or app activity (anonymous usage). We use them for the purposes in this policy and disclose them only to the providers listed above.
We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for cross context advertising. Because of that, there is nothing for a “Do Not Track” setting or a Global Privacy Control signal to opt you out of, and we treat any such signal as a request to opt out anyway. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
If you live in Canada
We collect and use your information with your consent, which you give by creating an account and using the app, and which you can withdraw by deleting your account. You can ask us for access to your information, and to correct it, at any time. Your information is stored outside Canada, as described above. You can contact us at johnfawai@gmail.com, and you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Security
We use encryption in transit, keep your sign in token in the iPhone Keychain, and restrict access to our systems. No service can promise perfect security, but we take it seriously and we will tell you and the relevant authorities if a breach affects you, as the law requires.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will update the date above and tell you in the app. Continued use after a change means you accept it.
